The mokoroa (grub) may be small, but it cuts through the kahikatea

This whakatauki reflects that small things can have a great impact. It encourages us to think big. Although numbers or resources may be small, like the mokoroa, it is possible to achieve great tasks/achievements.

Sub themes

  • Empowering for equity – moving towards equity
  • Empowering leadership – development, sustainability, rangatiratanga
  • Empowering through technology – using technology to improve health outcomes
  • Empowering communities – climate change, sustainability, environment, self-lead
  • Empowering the workforce – clinical, business and personal skills
  • Empowering through advocacy

Presentation types

  • Oral – 20 minute presentations + five (5) Q&A.
  • Posters – Posters will be displayed in the exhibition and catering area on electronic screens.
  • Lightning talks – a short presentation for five (5) minutes. The goal of a lightning talk is to articulate a topic in a quick, insightful, and clear manner. These concise and efficient talks are intended to grab the attention of the audience and to convey key information.
  • Workshops - presented on Thursday 1 May 2025.

Abstract format

Please note all abstracts must be submitted electronically. When composing your abstract, please carefully follow the guidelines below.

Note that you should indicate your preferred presentation format and with which of the conference themes listed above you think your abstract best aligns.

  • Maximum of 250 words.
  • Do not insert any tables or figures as your abstract will be as plain text, rather than an uploaded document.
  • Check spelling and grammar. Submitted material will be published in conference materials - the abstract should, therefore, contain no errors.
  • Standard scientific abbreviations may be used - non-standard abbreviations should be included in parenthesis after the first use of the full word.
  • Do not indent paragraphs.
  • Present sufficient data to support conclusions - it is unsatisfactory to use statements such as "data will be presented" or "results will be discussed".

Terms and conditions

The decision to accept an abstract is at the discretion of the Conference Programme Committee.

All Conference presenters (and co-presenters) must be registered to attend the Conference and are responsible for their own expenses (including conference registration, travel, accommodation and meals).

Key dates

  • Submission closes 11:59pm (NZST), Saturday 30 November 2024.
  • Notification of acceptance into the programme from Friday 13 December 2024.
  • Early bird registration closes 11:59pm (NZST), Monday 17 March 2025.
